Portraits From the Vertical Hold:

This body of work was developed during 2016 - 2018 in the Research Studios at the Art & History Museums Maitland. Their Artist-In-Action program affords and encourages artists the time and space to develop and foster new skills, language, insights and aesthetics in their work and studio practice.

During this time, I opted to investigate technical and visual approaches to developing a body of work that I was drawn to but not at all familiar with in any developed sense. Utilizing color, industrially informed process, manufactured objects and only the bare minimum facilities and materials needed to produce objects, I leaned into building a landscape of works that could present themselves with acid humor, an anxious sort of apathy and a vacuous confidence in their inexplicable but undeniable presence.
